The Aggregate Producers Association
of British Columbia
When the APABC was formed in 1988, the association produced a set of objectives and,
in 2002, augmented this with the drafting of a Mission Statement :
APABC MISSION STATEMENT
A) To encourage the formulation of Government policies that support investment in
the sustainable development of British Columbia's Aggregate Resource.
B) To provide a network for the effective exchange of information within the
Aggregate Industry throughout British Columbia.
C) To communicate the economic importance and environmentally responsible nature
of the Aggregate Industry to the Public and to Government.
D) To promote the exchange of information between the various mining-related
associations throughout Canada.
E) To provide cost effective services to a broad range of Industry Members within
British Columbia.
APABC OBJECTIVES - Set out in 1988
- To make the Association visible to the Provincial Government
in order to facilitate the development of aggregate reserves and
mines. The APABC has developed a Mission Statement that exemplifies
its commitment to operating within the guidelines established by the
Provincial Government responsible for Aggregate Mining.
- To communicate the facts of Wealth Creation
of the Aggregate Industry, through taxation on property and
income, and the legacy of redevelopment of aggregate mines after they
are depleted, to the municipalities hosting the aggregate mine, into
reuseable, productive developments.
- The APABC encourages all of its members to
participate in the development of Government policies that
directly affect the Aggregate Industry, through participation in the
political system. The APABC would like to see both Government and
Industry participate in the development of policies that will
encourage investment in the sustainable development of BC's Sand &
Gravel resources.
- The APABC provides an efficient and effective
network for the exchange of information within the Aggregate
Industry throughout B.C.
- To encourage the on-line education of the
Aggregate Industry, to those who seek knowledge about our
Industry, through the creation of educational materials that will be
accessible on the Internet to all British Columbians.
- The APABC encourages the exchange of
information between all Mining related industries throughout
Canada and the United States of America. It is by exchanging this
knowledge that Associations grow and prosper, and provide direction
for their members.
